The challenge

Many heat pump owners were already on dynamic tariffs, but many more were not. Väre saw the gap clearly: customers value predictability, yet they remain open to flexibility when the program is simple and the savings are tangible. The challenge was building something that delivered both, without asking customers to become energy experts.

Väre's design principle: People value predictability, but they are open to flexibility when the program is simple and the savings are real. That insight shaped every decision Väre and Kapacity.io made together.

The solution: simple time of use with smart control

Väre and Kapacity.io launched a dedicated ToU electricity contract for heat pump owners, bundled with automated optimization from the moment customers enroll.

1. Fixed price periods: Clear low and high price windows, with no day to day changes for customers to track.

2. Automated savings: Smart control runs inside the contract and optimizes automatically every hour.

3. Lives in the existing app: The integration lives inside the customer's current mobile app. No new account, no new password.

4. No new hardware: Customers enroll the heat pump they already own. Nothing to install, nothing to configure.

The results

92% of enrolled customers save on energy costs — simply by signing up.

0.7c/kWh average savings per kilowatt hour, across all enrolled customers, with no behavior change required.

Early adopters report not just lower bills, but increased comfort and peace of mind. The right program design turns flexibility from a burden into a benefit every customer can feel.
